9. Younger You

Today is our six year wedding anniversary, so thought it'd be great to tell you the story of when sparks started to fly (at least for me)!  It was Thach's twenty-something birthday (see we were all younger) and we all went out to Sam's Boat to celebrate.  Now Dennis and I had met before but something about that night just made me take a liking to him, he bought me drinks and danced with me.  I asked him to dance salsa with me, he declined so I danced with some other dude!  Side story...a few months later I found out Dennis started taking salsa lessons! I say he did it because he wanted to be ready the next time I asked him.   The picture below was where they had the dj set up and we danced the night away.

That night I told Alisa to tell Thach to tell Dennis I was interested...yes it was like that!  Little did I know there was about to be some drama in that relationship so hooking me up wasn't priority number one!  Months passed and I often hung out with Thach and his buddies which included Dennis (because of the above mentioned drama), but he would never make that first move.   Now if you know this group of guys you know they don't generally talk to each about anything besides sports and sports, so I couldn't get Thach to ask Dennis about me.  One rare night Thach got drunk and finally called Dennis, who was out of town visiting a girl no less, and told him he should take me out.  He gave him my number and I was so excited that I might get a real date.  Weeks passed, no call and life went on!  He claims he lost my number but could have easily asked Thach for it again, but again I wasn't sports related.

Then on New Year's Eve 2001 we were all hanging out, at one point people locked us out on the balcony together. You'd think he'd get the hint and ask me out....no!  That night at like 4 in the morning I called Dennis on the way from the party (that again is the younger me that is on the way home at 4 in the morning, not getting up to go to the gym before work at 4 in the morning) and just asked him out!  Had to just take matters into my own hands and I'm glad I did!

Happy Anniversary Snuggles!
